Refugees and immigrants

Nowadays everyone knows what refugees and immigrants are, but do we pay the necessary attention they deserve?

Immigrants usually emigrate due to economic factors, or they want to be closer to their family, but it is their decision to resettle in another country. Whereas refugees, are people forced to flee their home country, due to the war, natural disasters, religious or political persecutions... and do we help them?

European government doesn't accept refugees and immigrants because they have to invest money, for instance: they must find some flats for them, help with the food, clothes, even find one work... and they are afraid, because they don't think that they will be able to satisfy the needs of all the people.. Thus, they don't want a lot of refugees and immigrants, and only few of them get the chance to emigrate to other countries. No doubt, if they have some money there is no problem for the government.

Once they are here, do we treat them correctly?

In my opinion, we should put ourselves in their shoes, understand all they suffer, and then, try to help them, because everybody can do something to improve their lives, and from my point of view, we have to start changing our behavior.

So, you can help the refugees by volunteering at a local resettlement agency, becoming an English tutor, a tour guide, a mentor to a family, donating money, furniture and household items, teaching other people about refugees, and employing or encouraging local businesses to employ refugees.
